First project in 10 minutes

Register a folder, open two terminals, use the Grid and Focus, hand a task to an agent and see where PrumoGrid tells you it has finished.

Updated for PrumoGrid 0.5.11

What you will do

In this walkthrough you register the loja-api project, open a PowerShell and a Git Bash inside it, switch between Grid and Focus, hand a short task to Claude Code with New stage and see the result in the Stages tab. At the end, you close and reopen the window to see that the terminals are still there.

You need PrumoGrid installed (Install and update) and a project folder. The steps use C:\demo\loja-api, a small API with npm test; replace it with your project's path. For the agent part, Claude Code (or Codex) must be installed and authenticated. Without an agent, do only steps 1 to 3.

Project, terminals and Focus. A folder becomes a project, a PowerShell and a Git Bash open in it and Focus enlarges one of them. Captions and transcript ↗

1. Register the project

  1. In the Projects column, click + add projects….
  2. Choose the C:\demo\loja-api folder and confirm.
  3. Check the card: the name loja-api, the path and the main branch.

PrumoGrid stores only the path. Nothing is copied, moved or installed.

2. Open two terminals

  1. With loja-api selected, click PowerShell in the NEW row, above the terminal area.
  2. Click Git Bash (if you don't have Git Bash, open a second PowerShell).
  3. In PowerShell, run git status. The prompt is PS C:\demo\loja-api>: the terminal started in the project folder.
  4. In Git Bash, run npm test.
powershell
PS C:\demo\loja-api> git status
On branch main
nothing to commit, working tree clean

On the project card, the main branch line now shows 2 sessions. With several projects open, that line is how you see where terminals are running.

3. Use the Grid and Focus

  1. The Grid shows the terminals side by side. Under SPLIT, Auto picks the number of columns; 1× to 4× fix it.
  2. Click Focus. The selected terminal takes the large area and the others sit in a strip of thumbnails below.
  3. Click the other terminal's thumbnail to switch.
  4. Go back to Grid.
In Focus, the bottom strip shows the project's other terminals. One click on a thumbnail switches the terminal in the spotlight.

Switching views does not end or restart anything: the session and the output stay the same.

4. Hand a task to an agent

You can open Claude Code in the terminal, as always, by typing claude. New stage is for when you want PrumoGrid to follow the task and tell you when it is finished.

  1. Click the orange + New stage button at the top.
  2. In What needs to be done?, write:

Count the files in the src and tests folders, including subfolders. Reply with just the number.

  3. Check Runs on: Claude Code and the loja-api project.
  4. Click Create stage.
  5. If this is the first stage in this project, PrumoGrid asks Write guidance to CLAUDE.md?. Use See what will be written to read the block and choose Allow in this project or Never write in this project. The details are in Rules.
  6. A new terminal opens with Claude Code and receives the request right away. If the CLI asks whether you trust the folder, answer in the terminal itself.
New stage brings together the task, who runs it and where the stage runs.

5. See the result

  1. When the agent finishes its turn, the Stages tab, in the right sidebar, shows the stage as done.
  2. Click View result to read what was recorded.
  3. Check the agent's answer in the terminal. In the demo loja-api, there are 7 files.
Done here means the agent signaled the end of its turn. To require more, use a verification.

6. Choose the Windows notifications

In the right sidebar, open Notifications and check when you want to be notified: When I am needed, When something fails and When work finishes. The cards and the Attention tab keep showing everything, even with Windows notifications turned off.

7. Close and open the window

  1. Close the PrumoGrid window.
  2. Open it again from the Start menu.
  3. The two terminals and the agent's terminal are there, with the earlier output.

The terminals run in the terminal service (the daemon), separate from the window. Closing the window disconnects the interface; restarting Windows is another story, explained in Resume after restart.
